The external structure of the |pancreas| features a larger, |lobe|-shaped head on the body's right end, with a long, narrower portion, called the tail, extending to the left. The junction of the tail and the head forms the neck of the |pancreas|, at the |pancreatic notch|. The primary pancreatic duct runs from the left end of the tail of the |pancreas|, through the right end of the head and depositing into the |duodenum|.
